STIHL Sponsors Home Safety Prep Show Presented by Popular Mechanics / STIHUSA Blog

If you are in Houston, TX on June 4th, stop by and visit us at the Ram Home Safety Prep Show, presented by Popular Mechanics. STIHL Inc. is supporting the show as part of our expanding storm safety initiative. We believe safety is a critical consideration in operating our equipment, too often overlooked during times of emergency. In sponsoring this event, we want to help educate the public about chain saw safety and proper use as well as how to respond to emergencies within their communities.

STIHL spokesperson, current world-champion tree climber Mark Chisholm will speak at the event on “Trees, Storms, and Chain Saws. Don’t Get Hurt Helping Out.” One part acrobat, one part expert rope climber, one part tree physiologist, and several parts competitor and thrill seeker, Mark Chisholm is a third-generation, certified arborist with his family-owned Aspen Tree Expert Company in New Jersey. His expertise in tree care has made him a sought after consultant and industry spokesperson for the world of arboriculture, and he regularly travels the globe sharing his expertise with international arborist associations.

At the event, guests have the opportunity to meet the experts, first responders, and real-life survivors who will show how to handle any emergency from hurricanes to house fires and how to overcome the aftermath. In addition to Chisholm’s seminar, there will be an exclusive presentation plus Q&A with Cody Lundin—star of Discovery Channel’s Dual Survival. The event will also showcase new technology, including the latest from STIHL, life-saving gadgets, and how-to gear demonstrations.

The event will be held on June 4 at the ReliantCenter and is open to the public. Doors open at 8:30 am. Tickets are $15 at the door. Early discount coupons and updated show information available at http://www.popularmechanicshomesafety.com/

If you can't make the event, don't worry. We will be posting videos and additional tips following the show.  For more information on storm safety, visit http://www.stihlusa.com/stormcleanup
